Besides climate change ideology, the other issue that obsesses the globalist elite but repels most ordinary voters is mass migration. The elite is absolutely manic about moving large numbers of people from the Third World into industrialized democracies.
The obvious reason is that the elite wish to import a mass of new citizens that are more supportive of collectivism and centralized power, and far less interested in national sovereignty than the original citizens of developed nations.
There is also the virtue-signaling aspect. Globalists are generally the products of a multiculturalist educational environment that taught them Western cultures, especially the U.S., are selfish and evil. Energetic support for mass migration is a way of expiating those sins.
Mass migration gives globalists a tool to erase borders and weaken national sovereignty, which are among their paramount goals. A lot of them seriously believe that shifting billions of migrants around will permanently erase the toxic nationalism from which all evil springs.
Erasing national borders and diluting sovereignty are essential to building the power of transnational organizations and elevating the elite beyond the reach of voters. No nations means no way to vote them out of power.
There's one other thing mass migration does that the globalist elite finds extremely useful: migration is an assault on the rule of law. It weakens the legal systems and democratic institutions that could check the power of the elite or thwart their ambitions.
This is most clearly evident with "sanctuary cities" and the horrors that routinely accompany them. Sanctuary cities are an explicit attack on the rule of law, a clear assertion that legal citizens of the United States have no authority over their ruling class.
Mass migration utterly overwhelms social and legal systems, as you can see from the grim conditions at the border. This is a feature, not a bug. The goal is to overload legal systems the elite dislikes and attack the notion that they have sworn duties to the American people.
Globalists aren't just replacing electorates with mass migration, although that's a short-term goal. The long term goal is to utterly destroy the idea that ANY electorate has power and authority over THEM. The goal is elevate power beyond the reach of representative government.
You can't have representative democracy when it's no longer clear who, exactly, is being represented or how they can compel their "representatives" to address the issues important to them. The whole idea of electing representatives to form limited governments is under attack.
We're reaching that point now, as the driving obsessions of the elite are issues like "climate change" that rank extremely low with voters. The U.S. political elite is vastly more concerned with the "rights" and needs of foreign nationals than American citizens.
You will never have limited government without limited countries. There are no constitutions without borders. Both are defining features of the nation-state that are being erased in tandem by people who want no limits to power and no accountability to the people. /end
