Having a closer look through Trump Turnberry filings. This stands out: 'deferred tax assets' allow firms to use past losses to reduce future taxes. If you're wondering why the column for corporation tax charges is blank, the answer's straightforward - Trumps firms didn't pay any.
This, too, is interesting. The freehold value of the land owned by the Trump Org at Turnberry is listed as nearly £10m. Remember, @EricTrump spent two years trying - and failing - to redesignate the firm's landholdings for commercial development. It will remain agricultural land.
Also: Golf Recreation Scotland Ltd accs show DT Connect Europe's 'main asset', Trump's Sikorsky S-76B chopper, was sold to a co under 'common control' for £600k. In '17, DT valued it at £1.1m. Do they depreciate that fast? DT accounts show interco loan of £681k was written off.
And by the way, the fact Trump's firms incurred no corporation tax charge in 2018 isn't exceptional. Next month marks 14 years since he incorporated his first Scottish company. He now owns five in total. Not a single one has paid a *penny* in corporation tax over that period.
