BREAKING: Court Grants Interim Forfeiture of N116m in Constituency Projects Scam

Justice A.R. Muhammad of Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, October 14, 2019 granted an order for interim forfeiture of N116m alleged proceeds of crime
linked to the non- execution of constituency projects awarded to Hamza Barau and Hamshakin Ventures Ltd and funded by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN on behalf of some federal law makers.
The constituency projects involved the provision of Strategic Empowerment Programme in Akko, Gombe State, conduct of Pilot Seasonal Intervention Programme in Vandeikya/Konshisha, Benue State, provision of Strategic Empowerment Programme in Katsina-Ala/Logo/Ukum, Benue State,
Intervention Programme for Ailing Enterprises in Vaneikya/Konshisha, Benue State and the supply of motorcycles in Kiyawa, Jigawa State. Justice Muhammed adjourned the matter till  November 19, 2019. For details of this and other stories, visit our website: efccnigeria.org

Cybercrime: MAPOLY Student Jailed, Two Others Arraigned in Ibadan

A Higher National Diploma (HND) Mechanical Engineering student of Mashood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Ogun State, Olalekan Oladapo Ogunremi, was on Wednesday found guilty of criminal impersonation.
He was then sentenced to six months in prison. The 21-year-old actually found favour before Justice Patricia Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Ibadan Division, who commuted the one year punishment proposed for his offence to six months.
The judge succumb to his lawyer’s passionate plea who informed the court that his client had missed two examination sessions owing to the criminal charge filed against him by the Ibadan zonal office of EFCC.

seeking Justice Christopher A. Balogun to recuse himself from further hearing the alleged N978,401,732.09 oil fraud case involving the Chairman of Nadabo Energy Limited, Abubakar Ali Peters.
The judge threw out the motion on the ground that the counsel no longer has the right to appear in the matter or present such application having relieved self of the matter at the last adjourned date.

EFCC Arrests Two for Illegal Broadcast of DSTV Signal

The EFCC, Uyo Zonal office on Monday October 14, 2019 arrested two staffs of Communication Trend Limited, Prisca Isaac, Sales Representative and Nwosu Precious, Technician   at 111 Atiku Abubakar Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State
for alleged illegal  transmission of  broadcast signals of Multichoice (DSTV) to Uyo and environs without authorisation.  The company allegedly charges Three Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N3, 500.00) and Seven Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N7, 500.00) monthly as subscription fees
to its customers using DSTV and other decoders without permission. The arrest followed a petition alleging breach of Multichoice's English Premiership broadcast rights.
