In clarity of 10+ years of hindsight, while I thought I knew nothing about anything when starting my business:

1) I knew more about bingo card layout than 99.998% of US teachers by day 7
2) I had thought more about bingo card software than probably any human in history by year 3

I mean, pick definitely-not-a-toy. Credit card processing, whatever. Make an estimate: how many people have spent more than 1 hour in their life thinking about that.

10? 100? 1000? 10,000?

There are less 10,000s than you'd think.

A startup founder counts to a few thousand just by showing up.

"How many people have thought about credit card processing for more than 10,000 hours?"

Ooh that would be a good interview question if I was bad at interviewing. Seriously though: my 90% confidence interval is [10k, 50k]. Something like 100 of them work with me.

"Tell me a fun thing about bingo card layout."

There are 24 factorial ways to lay out a bingo card with 24 words and a fixed free space, but if you tell a math teacher that, half of them will think you are being condescending, so try "Hmm more than grains of sand on a beach."

"They will think you're being condescending?"

I express *extremely* high confidence that I have had this conversation with many more math teachers than you have.
