This amendment deserves to pass for the simple reason that all MPs should understand the details of the Brexit deal before voting for or against. A simple matter of democratic legitimacy and accountability.
It should not be considered pro-remain or pro-leave to want the details of the deal. Just pro-good governance. It has been a lingering problem throughout negotiations that Government has had to be dragged to doing the right thing (which didn't stop a deal being agreed)
Incidentally my own expectation is that this deal will be passed by Parliament, which only strengthens my view that MPs should know what they are voting for and should in particular be asking Government for clarity on their plans for the next 14 months.

The sort of idiocy from these tory MPs that needs to be stopped if we are not to continue our downward trajectory as a country.

The US act has never led to a prosecution in 200+ years.

Learning about negotiations would be a better idea.
The last 48 hours in UK politics merely reinforces the view that the immature bitterness of Brexit will not go away any time soon, and voting for a deal will just mean we move to the next deal or no deal point, in December 2020.
Another case in point, where good analysis and reporting = in the eyes of Brexiteers pro EU bias. This is the Foreign Secretary speaking lest we forget, attacking a journalist, behaviour his department criticises globally

Promises that can easily be overturned not unbreakable commitments, though at least something. Vote for or against primarily on what's in the deal
So if frankly you just want Brexit phase 1 delivered, the deal does it. If you're concerned about what happens next there are no guarantees beyond what is in the treaty. We could still have Brexit in name only or no deal for GB. ERG understand that well and will take the risk.
The deal delivers some degree of certainty to Northern Ireland about the future. Very little to Great Britain. But it fulfils the letter of the referendum vote.

My thoughts on the Brexit deal yesterday.

For today and tomorrow what I (probably too optimistically) hope for is that there is a proper debate on the deal, and that MPs arguing for and against do so on a realistic basis - on the detail, economics, above all the future of the UK
Signing a treaty that will shape the next few years of the UK because we're bored of Brexit is not going to be a good look.

We need to find a coherent and realistic narrative for the future of the UK, which neither Government or opposition seems to have.
Those who say we need to scrutinise the deal properly, to conduct impact assessments, to understand the likely future path (transition - no deal - FTA is most likely) are correct. But it seems unlikely that we will get this chance.

Taking a step back at the moment, after today it is hard to see how Boris Johnson can still legitimately claim to have "just the right amount of time" to agree _and_ ratify a #Brexit deal before October 31.

The first draft of the original Withdrawal Agreement was published on 28 February 2018.

The draft was finalised on 24 November 2018, after month of careful negotiations on the text.

The UK has not put forward alternative proposals for Northern Ireland yet. /2
In November 2018, the UK government lobbied the other EU27 countries for a special #EUCO to adopt the withdrawal agreement.

Main argument was that it could not wait until the December European Council, as the UK would need 4 month to get the WA through the Commons. /3

Government floated idea of all-Ireland agricultural area but EU don’t consider this a serious proposal bc only covers 30% of cross-border trade. EU will see on Weds if PM’s negotiator brings additional ideas. If not EU diplomats say it’ll be clear PM not seriously negotiating /3

So. Tomorrow the House of Commons will vote on a series of possible amendments to Theresa May's 'Plan B' - or rather the 'plan of action to achieve a Plan B' - which itself officially reads as follows:
The amendment most likely to pass – and therefore the one on which most attention has been paid – is this one from Conservative party chairman Sir Graham Brady. It's effectively an instruction to go back and seek *some unstated other way* to avoid a hard border in Ireland:
Tonight, Theresa May has asked her backbenchers to vote in favour of this amendment. She is basically asking them to tie her hands, so that Brussels will clearly know what it would take to win the Commons' backing for any deal.
