Imaad Shah Zuberi, a lobbyist and political donor to both Democrats and Republicans, pleaded guilty to falsifying records to conceal that he was working as a foreign agent, evading taxes, lobbying on behalf of foreign entities, and illegal campaign contributions.
He ran a venture capital firm called Avenue Ventures and solicited foreigners and foreign government reps by claiming he could use his influence in the DC swamp to change US foreign policy and create business for himself and clients.
Clients gave him loads of money for various political campaign contributions and for investing and consulting fees. He also hired lobbyists to get access to US officials, "some of whom took action in support of his clients." Some did, but most didn't.
So the people who were paying him lost a boat load of money, too, but IDGAF since many of them only paid to influence US politicians. Not only did they lose money b/c most didn't give him what he wanted, but Zuberi ended up pocketing more than $1.1 million donations for himself.
Looks like he also used other people's names as well as conduit contributions to make campaign donations illegally on behalf of foreigners.
Zuberi tried to convince Bahrain to lift sanctions on a Bahrain citizen in connection to a big resort development to make it appear like Avenue Ventures made a big investment there. He then lobbied Congress to pressure Bahrain to stop interfering in the project.
Zuberi also started a company called US Cares to export humanitarian items to Iran. People invested over $7 million into US Cares, but Zuberi used most of the $ for himself. He also used $250K of it to donate to the "Non-profit of another former high ranking elected official."
Looks like he was donating to the Clinton Foundation/Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton foundation back in 2014/2015.

He's also bundled more than $2 Million in donations to Hillary Clinton through Avenue Ventures since the 1990's.

A Clinton Super PAC, "Ready for Hillary" also listed Zuberi as a "National Finance Council Member."

OMG....so this memo to Podesta was telling him to meet with Zuberi, touted his work and fundraising for Clinton & Obama, but at the same time also mentioning a DOJ investigation into him in 2015 in connection to Sri Lanka.
