I dunno. I'd be pretty worried about the deal passing third reading if I was the govt. The numbers yesterday don't look great.
You only need to lose 15 MPs for it to fail. 19 Labour MPs backed second reading, but only five backed the programme motion.
Many of them could switch to opposition. Then it's a question of whether you could chip away at indie Conservatives supporting the deal. Sandbach maybe. Even Hammond.
And this is before you get down into the trench warfare of it. Basically, whichever way you look at it, you're probably dealing with five votes either way.
Either way, the increasingly confident reports of govt having a decent majority on the deal are nonsense. It's knife edge.
