We understand the incredible risks faced by many who use our service to hold power to account, and we have strong tools in place to protect their privacy and their ability to do their vital work.
We have teams around the world who work to improve the health of the public conversation. None of these policy enforcement teams are based in the MENA region at all, including our Dubai office. Recent accusations to the contrary are false.

Today we are releasing all the content associated with previously disclosed information operations that we have found on our service since 2016. Our goal is to enable further independent academic research and investigation: blog.twitter.com/official/en_us…
These datasets comprise of 3,841 accounts affiliated with the Internet Research Agency, originating in Russia, and 770 other accounts, potentially originating in Iran. They include more than 10 million Tweets & more than 2 million images, GIFs, videos, & Periscope broadcasts.
We are constantly seeking to improve our own ability to detect, understand, and neutralize these campaigns as quickly as technically possible. We continue to invest heavily in this area: blog.twitter.com/official/en_us…

Twitter is pleased to support the Honest Ads Act. Back in the fall we indicated we supported proposals to increase transparency in political ads.
Last October, Twitter announced plans to launch a new industry-leading platform called the Ads Transparency Center (ATC). The ATC will go beyond the requirements of the Honest Ads Act and eventually provide increased transparency to all advertisements on Twitter.
Moreover, the ATC will dramatically increase transparency for political and issue ads, providing people with significant detail on the origin of each ad. We have a dedicated team that is fully resourced to implementing the ATC and are committed to launching it this summer.

Many people get away with blatant lies because other people are reluctant to call them out as being lies

Not naming lies gives them credibility

Individuals and the media should not be afraid to be honest and truthful

Before you gasp at something in shock, yell “no way” or jump up and down saying “finally!” make sure what you’re reading it accurate.

Give snopes.com or politifact.com a try to verify.

Be careful of disinformation!

Twitter seems to be banning or suspending accounts belonging to critics of the Chinese government. It started yesterday May 31th. Here is one report - I noticed a sudden loss of followers yesterday, I checked, it was mainly China critics. Twitter❤️🇨🇳 Amazing! @mouse @1GigiSims
This is happening as an effort to silence #China critics ahead of the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, which is next Tuesday. Twitter is helping China do its dirty work to silence the legitimate opposition. Twitter has hit a new all time low! 👎👎👎
One other possibility that can't be discounted is that the #Chinese government is hacking into Twitter and is deleting the accounts of Chinese critics. I did hear reports in the past, that Chinese hackers were able to get into Twitter & do that.

@estahthor 1. I'm now 9 years on #Twitter: Had 30 new followers per day (around 1.000 new followers per month) for years. When #Klout still existed I had 69 (pretty high, CNN was at 80 plus), I had 100.000 #impressions on average per day (max over 1 million). NOW:
@estahthor 2. NOW: #Follower-count remains flat for years (despite new followers & unfollow-tool shows 30 unfollows per week), #impressions now around 40.000 per day (60% less). RT & Likes still high, but had much more in the past.
There is no doubt that @jack & @Twitter mute our accounts!
@estahthor @jack @Twitter 3. I'm still on #Twitter because it's fun (have 3 good finance circles on here, my news & politics exchange & infotainment & fun), but I notice many smaller accounts leave (too little interactions): At the end all #censorship kills, especially on #SocialMedia.

Findings:
- Not user-friendly (and I'm a digital marketer that can break down any site functionalities)
- I don't know where is open or closed
- I just don't trust spend my $$$ here and I'm uncomfortable in the first 15 secs of browsing the site

This is my commentary on #twitter #movements. Before I go I want to preface this with a statement: I love humans. We're amazing creative & powerful beings. I'm fascinated by human behaviour and the hidden motivations underlying our basic need to belong. 1/
I've observed some movements taking off on Twitter. Some for #MedEd, raising awareness, knowledge sharing, inspiration and sharing failings, wounds & triumphs. Generally they support creative expression in 280 characters. Awesome! 2/
As these movements gain momentum, more people want to join in b/c #belonging. I'm seeing a disturbing trend of sharing experiences of patients/clients to promote how deep & human they are. Some are purely intended, some not. 3/

Bernie v. Hillary, Benghazi & the "email scandal" were perfect targets. There was already tension & division on those topics, so they were easy to exploit. 2
Russia also targeted #peopleofcolor (specifically black voters) to sow distrust of Hillary & the political process, which helped Trump's campaign. 3
