<immediately hears NPR telling people Bob Barr’s autocratic investigation of people who caught Trump is Actually Fine>

<jumps out of moving car>
Barr put a career prosecutor in charge! He’s very well-respected! We’re goddamn morons!
Somebody please photoshop an NPR tote bag into that This Is Fine cartoon for me
Here @NPRPublicEditor argues that NPR is right to refer to “Democratic impeachment inquiry” because “times have changed” … even while acknowledging *things were exactly the same* when NPR referred to GOP party-line impeachment efforts as the work of the institution.
You can argue, I suppose, that NPR is right to refer to “Democratic impeachment inquiry” because it’s a party-line vote. I wouldn’t, but you *could.*

But to say NPR is right to do so because circumstances have changed *when the circumstances are in fact the same* is just stupid.
We don’t have to go back to 1998 to find NPR behaving differently when it’s a party-line vote Republicans win. Here’s an NPR *this year* in referring to a party-line vote as an institution, not a party, acting.

This is an incompetent defense of a pro-GOP double standard.
Took me 40 seconds to find this example of NPR not treating party-line votes Republicans win the way @NPRpubliceditor says NPR correctly treats party-line votes won by Democrats.

If your column is dismantled in 40 seconds you have a bad column.
@NPRpubliceditor There is value in making clear Republicans all oppose impeachment; it’s another way in which they are Trump’s accomplices.

But the way you do that is not labeling impeachment a Democratic action, it is by noting that Republicans oppose the House’s action.
