There's a reason for that, you know. Things cost more in Alberta. Houses, food, tools, everything... contractors charge more. Wages are higher in areas like health care and education and construction because housing costs more, food costs more... 2/7
It's not comparing apples to apples when you line up Albertan expenditures with, say, Manitoban expenditures. In Manitoba, housing costs less, food costs less, and wages are lower, on average. 3/7
If you want to build a garage on your property in Alberta, it will cost you close to $100k. The same garage will cost about half that if you build it in Manitoba. 4/7
It is completely disingenuous of the Premier to say he's only cutting expenses down to be equivalent to what other provinces spend. That is not creating balance or equality. That is cutting back. Way back. 5/7
Albertans deserve THE SAME levels of services as other provinces. This is not the same as paying the same as other provinces. To deliver services in a more expensive economy, you have to pay more for the same level of services. 6/7
Why does our Premier, who is supposed to have the needs of Albertans at heart, want to give us less in the way of services than our fellow citizens receive in less affluent provinces? Think on that. 7/7
