"Mr. al-Baghdadi’s death, they said, occurred largely in spite of Mr. Trump’s actions." There's a few reasons this quote should terrify us. nytimes.com/2019/10/27/us/…
1. It demonstrates what we well know about how erratic our president is. The self-congratulatory, ghoulish press conference only reinforced this. 2. This is a calculated leak from the military itself meant to undermine Trump's authority. We effectively have no functioning gov't.
It should terrify us that the U.S. military is giving the POTUS a brushback in the New York Times following a successful operation like this. It's not like the military hasn't gone outside the chain of command and leaked before, but this is well beyond those previous norms.
Trump is a menace to the country and the world. Everyone knows it, including our military leadership. He's a corrupt, criminal grifter. He is also the Commander in Chief. The military itself is signaling that they find the POTUS illegitimate. Who knows what bad stuff could happen
People like Lindsey Graham try to manage the POTUS via Twitter and utilizing a campaign of sycophantic flattery. Graham's Senate resolution on the House impeachment process was 100% to keep his access to Trump's good side so he can influence, even direct, policy.
The President has no capacity to make decisions separated from whim or naked self-interest. Foreign dictators know it and have no compunction about using his weakness to roll him. His own party knows it and attempts to do the same. It is scary as hell.
