Bits from Mr.Peart's presentation on the Mayberry IG LIVE

(They never save their LIVEs so it's gone 😢)
Mostly gave general investing advice and brought awareness to Jamaica's improved economic environment (nothing new if you follow #FinanceTwitterJa or investors here )
Factors affecting Equity Markets :

I. Growth Numbers
-Interest Rates
-National International Reserves
-Foreign Exchange
-Inflation
-Changes in Economic Policy
-GDP Growth

II. World Events
III. Business Confidence
*breaks down each*
We need to accept and wake up that the times have changed. We are no longer in the 70s, 80s, 90s—we are in the 2019s going 2020s!
Entrepreneurship is alive, money is alive! 😀
As Jamaicans, we've become pessimistic because of the past, so every time something good happens, we look around and say "something coming. It's a bubble. It going crash" 😡
Well, when we compare to our favourite neighbours, murica, we see that they have gone 10 years of expansive GDP Growth...

We have only gone 5 AND our debt is going down! 🤯
We need to recognise that our economic environment has changed, is changing, and this is our chance to be a part of it ✨
Many still deny this. There are people holding them money in US $ hoping for it to appreciate. They get very loud when the dollar hits 138 but when it's 133...silence 🤫
FX changed overall by 2% in a year. Don't focus on saving in USD, instead focus on investing in a USD earning business 😉
Also, we made a table of Treasury Bills (T-Bills) and compared them with dividend yields of jse companies

*shows table*

Do you see this? We live in a time when stock dividends give you higher return than a 6 month T-Bill
And don't even mention the savings accounts. What is the rate now? Less than 1% or 0.01%?
C'mon
"but isn't Jamaica more exposed to a recession now? This is gonna crash "

Well, we are all looking out for a recession but unlike the media heads, we analyse the economic environment and can say Jamaica is far less exposed to any external shocks today than in the past
Folks, we gave people a list of picks last year March and by October, they had returned an average of 100+%. When we asked who bought, only 3 people did!
The market then had a PE of 5x and now sits around 15x - 18x
Do you now understand the big deal of being the best performing stock exchange in the world?

Of all the things to invest in to get consistent year on year returns, the jse would've been the best place!
The best [public investment vehicle] is at your home!

Our banks are growing so big they're seeking investments outside Jamaica! That's a big deal
Yet of the millions of Jamaicans, only 150+k have brokerage accounts.

I can't convince anyone that doesn't want to look into it but to those interested, act soon.
In the next 5-10 years you're going to be seeing so much growth. There are many hotels left to build as my colleague said

You think rent high now? Imagine when we stop the violence? The community prices are gonna spike!
He wraps it up
Promotes MJE as a stock to buy if you not going to keep track of all those economic indicators.

Just choose MJE to share in the expertise and gains 😉 of Mayberry
[end]
He gives 4 picks but you see.. Im not a financial advisor 🙃 soo when the newspaper article comes out I'll post the article here

P.s. The picks aren't for next month or so, almost a year or less i believe was the horizon. So don't think you're missing December gems
From the Mayberry investor public forum thingy on oct 30

I'm not a licensed financial advisor...they are. I'm just a friendly neighbourhood spiderman 🤷‍♂️

Few more heads-ups below:
1. if you lose money after blindly purchasing, blame yourself for not doing the research

2. If you did the research you'd know how much stake they own in their recommendations (coincidence?)

3. Lord knows what other gains you'll miss betting on the time horizon for these
4. You can't quite blame them as you're not a client and they're not contractually obligated to give any of us financial advice (feel like there's a CFA oath conflict here)

4. Their competitors are watching 🤔

5. Did i say research?
6. How to research?
