THREAD 1/x

As the post-election dust settles, we find ourselves bombarded by post-mortem narratives, some of which are honest and reflective, many of which are subversive.

If we come out of this with the wrong takeaway, we might as well give up and embrace the leftist dystopia.
THREAD 2/x

Almost immediately after the election, the opening gambit for the poison pill was played.

"We should have dragged Scheer to a Pride parade. That hurt us in the GTA. Abortion hurt us in Quebec; same-sex marriage hurt us in the GTA." - CPC anon

THREAD 3/x

And just like that, @StephenHarper's former Press Secretary, @MacIntyreSara, reinforces the 'no more socons' narrative, launching the overt phase of the assault on @AndrewScheer's leadership.

THREAD 4/x

1 of the 1st to take a stab from the front was @Young4Oakville. Scapegoating Scheer for his loss in Oakville, Young overlooked the bad aftertaste to his acclamation over @ZaidLama1, which left him short on volunteers w/o much of a ground-game. theglobeandmail.com/politics/artic…
THREAD 5/x

The coup against Scheer is like catnip for Red Tories & the media. Of course @AKimCampbell & @PatrickBrownOnt are in on it.

THREAD 6/x

Familiarize yourselves with the @ScheerMustGo spin coming from the "co-founder of the #ScheerMustGo movement" - @Anthony__Koch. In the coming weeks we'll be hearing plenty of that rhetoric from opportunists who are betting on the Red Tory coup.
THREAD 7/x

“I actually gave them some real advice. I said that if you actually say it louder, we’ve learned in the House of Commons, if you repeat it, if you say it louder, if that is your talking point, people will totally believe it.”
- McKenna/Goebbels
THREAD 8/x

And with the stage all set, the rumoured leadership challenger, Peter MacKay takes his sharp stab 'open net miss' analogy, while repeating that those with social conservative beliefs shouldn't lead the CPC, to avoid the MSM's negative coverage.
cbc.ca/news/politics/…
THREAD 9/x

Do you think this kind of bigotry would be acceptable against any other religion?

I'm Jewish. Would MacKay dare suggest that my faith's stance on life should disqualify me and others like me from ever seeking leadership?

Of course not.

Only Christian Conservatives.
THREAD 10/x

For what it's worth, I agree that we could have and should have won this election.

But anyone who bases their calls for leadership change on the poison pill premise insta-loses my support & trust, as well as my vote if it ever gets there.
THREAD 11/x

I'm a Blue Tory, and I was more than happy to FIGHT for Scheer's pragmatic platform, b/c I get that breaking the coalition is a mutually assured destruction.

I urge the CPC-base to contact the PC missile-throwers, and politely demand that they disarm.
THREAD 12/x

Let's be honest, there were plenty of mistakes made by Scheer's team.

After seeing all the knives coming at Scheer during this coordinated power-play, I wouldn't be surprised if some of these mistakes were the product of Red Tory sabotage.
THREAD 13/x

Whether or not that's the case, Scheer still holds the responsibility of following through on bad advice, and for not seeing his enemies for who they are.

He must make big adjustments if he wishes to survive this attack & lead us to victory! torontosun.com/opinion/column…
THREAD 14/x

Despite the mistakes, #IStandWithScheer!

Giving up on him now, is to capitulate the future of our Party to media-approved "Conservatives".

I believe Scheer will come out of this tougher & wiser, transforming from a consensus builder to a great leader & our next PM.
THREAD 15/x

Andrew, it's time to mute the subversive noise, and conduct an honest assessment of campaign mistakes, and the necessary adjustments to make sure they don't repeat themselves.

This is what the rest of the thread will focus on...
THREAD 16/x

Andrew, the poison pill narrative, like every deception is based on an element of truth - You allowed pro-life & SSM to become a distraction.

The evasive middle of the road approach just doesn't work.
cbc.ca/news/politics/…
THREAD 17/x

Next time, all you gotta do is own it & close it: "Yes, I'm pro-life, no we're not opening the debate. Now let's talk about what this election is actually about." When they continue probing, call out the media on their bigotry, double-standards & distractions.
THREAD 18/x

Andrew, despite the mishandling of the social issues, this is NOT why we under-performed.

Neither was the dual-citizenship nothing-burger, nor the hair-splitting re your resume.

We failed to win b/c the campaign was too cautious & boring.
THREAD 19/x

Seriously, who thought that going all-in on 'Get by vs Get Ahead' was a good idea?

At best this was an appetizer, but it was served as the main course w/o much on the side.

Except the West, most aren't yet hurting to the point of voting on pocketbook issues alone.
THREAD 20/x

Likewise it was quite the miscalculation to assume that we'd win over the apathetic swing voters, who reluctantly tune in 2-weeks b4 the elxn, with sprinkles of Tax Credits, vs the Lib vote-buying freebies.
THREAD 21/x

There were many radical agenda items quietly pushed by all the leftist Parties, which they didn't want to campaign on, giving us a huge opportunity to create a sharp contrast, and draw people into the convo by slicing through the boring stuff.
THREAD 22/x

.@TGranicAllen is absolutely right, puberty blockers & Jessica Yaniv, in the age of @jordanbpeterson & Bill C16, would have been an easy public opinion slam-dunk, with tons of free publicity by the outrage-on-demand mob.
THREAD 23/x

Whether you love him or hate him, @ezralevant is right about freedom of speech being another winning issue. Andrew, you championed free speech prior to winning leadership. It was a mistake to take it off the menu.
THREAD 24/x

Andrew, you were advised to play it safe, stick to the script, and avoid unnecessary controversy, and figured that Trudeau's scandals were enough to take him down.

But the scripted approach came across as inauthentic, and Cdns didn't get a chance to get to know YOU.
THREAD 25/x

Andrew, I hope you won't let cautious advisers and/or Red Tories convince you into self-censoring your instincts & convictions ever again.

Drop the script, stand up for your beliefs, and I'm confident you'll earn Canada's trust, like you earned mine.
THREAD 26/x

Andrew, you bent over backwards to make the Red Tories happy, all while they were sharpening their knives.

It's time you take the gloves off, and show them why we elected YOU to lead the CPC in the first place.
