The Siemens Deal Is A Government-To-Government Deal That Will See The German Government-Backed German Export Credit Agency Provide 80% Funding For The Power Deal While The FGN Pays 20% Counterpart Funding Up-Front.
The Siemens Deal AKA "Presidential Power Initiative" (PPI) Has Been Budgeted In The 2020 FY Of The 2020-2022 MTEF. This Year, FGN Will Provide N61bn In Counterpart Funding From The Federation Account. The German Export Credit Agency Will Pay Siemens Directly For The Supplies
And Works Involved In Every Phase Of The Program, Hence The Old Bureaucratic Nigerian Corruption In The Process Is TOTALLY ELIMINATED. The Work Will Be Done And In Time. No Excuses & No Inhibitions. So, What Should Nigerians Expect Under The Three-Phase Agreement?
President @MBuhari Was Adamant That We Must Focus On Distribution First So That Nigerians Can Receive Available Generated Power. So, Siemens Technicians Sat With Nigerian DISCO Owners To Conduct Technical Audits Of All Infrastructure To Know Their Problems & How To Solve Them.
Based On This Extensive Technical Audit Done In Agreement With DISCO Owners, Siemens Compiled A Phase 1 Roadmap To Solve Distribution Problems Within Two Years With Siemens Power Solutions. Over 103 Projects Specified. By Dec. 2021, Distribution Will Rise From 3,000MW To 7,000MW.
Secondly, The Bill Of Quantities Will Soon Be Presented To The Nigerian Government For Ratification & Financial Closure. Full Phase One Construction Work Begins In July 2020 To End By December 2021. In Phase Two (2021-2023), A Series Of New Power Plants Are Being Built By Siemens
On The NNPC's New $2.8bn USD Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline. Three Power Plants Built Along The New Pipeline Corridor In Abuja, Kaduna And Kano Will Each Generate 1,350MW, Totalling About 4,000MW Of New Power In Phase Two. This Does Not Include New Gas Capture Plants Being
Built By Siemens In The N/Delta To Uptake All Flared Gas And Turn It Into Power Supply under The Agreement. These Projects Will Produce Over 1,000MW. In All, By December 2023, Nigeria Will Generate, Transmit & Distribute 11,000MW Of Electricity. This Means Stable Power Supply.
