Quick thread about expertise, and email marketing, and 30x500 alumni @brennandunn. Here we go.👇

First, I have to say how amazing it is to watch so many 30x500 alums go through the process of *becoming* respected experts in their field. Essentially zero of them start that way.
@brennandunn Brennan is unique, though. He's one of our most successful alumni, yes, but watching him execute the process is really my favorite part.

In fact, we've watched him become a recognized expert TWICE since he took 30x500. Maybe three times?
@brennandunn The first time, he flubbed converting his expertise in running client projects into a SaaS product. But he recovered by noticing that many of his SaaS customers cancelled because they went out of business.
@brennandunn So to help them stay in biz (and at @amyhoy's advice) he launched the very first edition of "Double Your Freelancing Rate" - a book/guide to help people raise their freelance rates effectively and price on value.
@brennandunn @amyhoy Within a short time, he became one of the go-to resources for value-based pricing in many freelance circles online. He expanded his footprint beyond pricing to include lead generation and other key skills to help freelancers succeed.
@brennandunn @amyhoy This became a 7 figure empire within a few years, when before that, no freelancer (or really anybody outside of the town he lived and worked in) had heard of him.
@brennandunn @amyhoy In many ways (including financially), Brennan surpassed @amyhoy and I in less time.

Which made the second time he "became an expert" even more interesting.
@brennandunn @amyhoy Brennan implemented our 30x500 core concepts SO WELL, the best way to grow was to do more of it...

Or, to find ways to automate what worked.

Which is around the time that our student Brennan Dunn started to really teach ME things.
@brennandunn @amyhoy @brennandunn solved the problems that @amyhoy and I had struggled with most in our business:

Sometimes weeks or months would pass between publishing new stuff and writing to our email list.

Especially with Amy as the face of the business, and with variable health, it was hard.
@brennandunn @amyhoy We'd seen people do marketing automation for things like launches and funnels, and wanted to get there, but it always seemed like something we'd *eventually* do.

It wasn't until Brennan showed off how he was automating ALL of his email that it clicked for me. 💡
@brennandunn @amyhoy Marketing automation isn't just for making sales. That's a tiny slice of what it can do.

It's for the ENTIRE ecosystem of interactions with your audience. For building trust and helping them over time.

This is what Brennan did better than us, and taught me how we could improve.
@brennandunn @amyhoy In early 2018, I finally set out to implement his approach. I grew our revenue by 40% YoY. I continued implementing and improving in 2019. We're about to finish another year of similar growth.

This wouldn't have happened w/out what I learned from our own student, Brennan.
@brennandunn @amyhoy Throughout the process, Brennan hopped on a video chat more than once to give suggestions, feedback, and troubleshoot. That's a special favor I get to call in that most people don't get, and I'm grateful for it!
@brennandunn @amyhoy IMO Brennan is one of the leading experts on *effective* marketing automation, especially for solo creative businesses.

Watching him become that expert – his second time from scratch – has been amazing, especially since I've benefitted from it so directly.

@brennandunn @amyhoy This course is (by virtue of its name) focused on ConvertKit. It bends the laws of what you thought was possible with ConvertKit.

It's fairly technical, though designed to be understandable by someone who is not a programmer.
@brennandunn @amyhoy But the underlying strategies that Brennan uses in his business (and that we use in ours) are strung through the entire course, too.

If you publish stuff for your audience regularly, this course will teach you an extremely powerful way to improve list health and make more sales.
@brennandunn @amyhoy Brennan and I have plans for some joint projects/events that build on what he teaches in this course.

But if you've ever felt like it's too much of a grind to keep sending regular emails to your list, this is hands down a better way to do it.
