I'm quoted in the Economist:

Yet after Macron has called Nato "brain dead", I wouldn't say anymore that he is "strategically right".
In my view there are two realpolitik options for Europe's future:
a) keep US engaged in Europe to keep autocratic and revisionist Russia at distance;
b) break with US and let Russia in.
To me it looks like Macron has chosen b)

Option c) European sovereignty and strategic autonomy would be great but I don't see this as a realistic option, as a central power is not going to emerge and all formats of cooperation will always remain limited. And no hegemon (and no Macron) will force Europeans together.
