GP Newsom's flailing about like the socialist he is, threatening a state takeover of PG&E. He's appointed a state "energy czar" and an "energy strike team."

sacbee.com/news/politics-…
GP The solution here is easy: appoint a public utilities commission dedicated to allowing utilities to focus primarily on service reliability, safety, and clearing deferred maintenance backlogs.
GP Now the PUC insists PG&E push green energy and climate change wishful thinking before grid safety and reliability.
GP If Newsom had the balls to get rid of the pie in the sky green energy mandate for utilities, PG&E likely wouldn't need a rate increase to accomplish most of its safety and reliability fixes.
GP In short, PG&E sucks in large part not because it's too much of a private corporation but because Newsom and his socialist fellow travelers have prevented it from operating as enough of a private corporation.
GP To run an efficient, cost-effective utility, the utility need to be free to charge rates to compensate its shareholders and to pay for the day to day costs or running the utility, not be forced to focus on buying locally sourced organic free range carbon neutral power.
GP So Newsom can have either green power that burns the state down or clean fossil fuel, nuclear, and hydro power with a functioning network.

He cannot have both. At least not on terms and pricing consumers/voters are willing to tolerate.
