I'm not a psychologist so grain of salt, but like many things China I'm not sure the language quite captures what I would call it. I would say from birth there is constant barrage of propaganda that focuses on a couple things. First, you (individual) are nothing, worthless, 1/n
And owe your blessings to us the Party. Second, China is the Middle Kingdom but Middle in the sense of that which everything revolves around not like the middle seat. This inculcates a profound sense that we are bound to dominate and we will be the great nation of the planet 2/n
Finally, most Chinese believe Hong Kongers are spoiled brats who should be thankful they are being invaded and they view Uyghurs as terrorist subhumans who just aren't thankful they were invaded. That's the general belief. Mix all three together and you have a dangerous cocktail.
