Carl-Hermann Schletwein, Minister of Finance, Namibia: private finance comes to Global South because of poor returns in Global North. We are not sure we are getting resilient capital flows.
Namibia has the worst draught in 90 years, govt provided emergency food, water and subsidies to farmers to reduce impact of climate crisis on industry and exports.

mother of all ironies is the critique of 'Doing Business Index' from Paul Romer highlighted the case of Chile, downgraded during Bachelet and upgraded in poorly masked support for Piñera, the president who just responded to popular mobilisation by bringing army in the streets
Imagine defending support of Piñera hardwired in your indicators by calling a mainstream development think tank 'marxist'. I hope that guy meets some Thirld World Network critical development thinkers

those of you who think Bolivia did well in macro terms because it followed macro orthodoxy of Washington Consensus, well, you are wrong.
as @TomasLukin cites @eclac_un analysis of the redistributive macro that led to halving of extreme poverty in 10 years: social investment, transfers, wage policies and higher earnings in rural areas. All possible because Evo nationalised gas and oil.
Bolivia also had something we can only dream of in Euroarea and high income countries, despite please from Mario Draghi: coordination between fiscal and monetary policy to keep inflation low while redistributing resource revenue to the poor.

#Vision2020 was supposed to be a role model & exported all over India & later to entire developing world. Although amidst widespread opposition people of Andhra Pradesh destroyed this ‘world’s most dangerous economic experiment’ dubbed at the time as return of East India Company.
The partition of Andhra Pradesh provided another opportunity to revive the masterplan. The same project was now rebranded as #Vision2029 under the flagship of one of the #BigFour consultancy firm Ernst & Young - who is also a partner in #Kashmir Plan.
