Marijuana is a gateway drug for marijuana legalization.
Which is possibly, given Denver and Oakland, a gateway drug for psilocybin legalization, though we’ll see how far that goes.
My preferred policy equilibrium has been, and remains, legalizing marijuana (and maybe psilocybin) while jacking up alcohol and cigarette taxes way higher than they are now.

I don’t want legalization so much as I want substitution.

I talk about this with Thomas Mann on tomorrow's Impeachment, Explained, but the asymmetric polarization discourse makes it sound like everything is about issue positions. But issue positions are only one axis of polarization.
The relevant one for impeachment is attitudes towards the norms of the political system itself. Having two parties sharply polarized across left/right issue positions doesn't mean you'll have two parties sharply polarized on whether it's okay to abuse presidential power.

This poll shows you exactly how Republicans are managing to defend the indefensible.

It's not that they've turned against impeachment in theory. 52% say if Trump abused his powers, he should be impeached.
It's not that they don't believe abusing office for personal political advantage is impeachable. 67% of Republicans say it is.
But in the face of overwhelming evidence that Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden, Republicans have convinced themselves this is normal.

But just for the record @NoToSecularism_, I have better tools and access to knowledge and a know how to use them, unlike all those enemies of those prophets from that time, so I actually contribute towards a bigger threat to Islam it's ever seen in it's entire history.

I believe that the dam has broken.

Trump will be removed from office before the end of the year, impeached by the House by the end of the Summer.

So many News stories are breaking every day revealing what we have known to be true for 2+ years to the General Public.
It's only a matter of time before more people turn on Trump and before more comes out.

My only question is this: How huge will the end result be? Will Trump be the fall guy or will we follow the money?

It’s so fascinating to see (ostensibly) white people use “white” as a slur against other whites. We are witnessing an evolution of racial identity politics. Here are my thoughts on what is going on (thread):
1. Just as “whiteness” is often used in the place of what was formerly known as “white privilege”, “white” is increasingly used as a dogwhistle for “white supremacist”. The focus of the derision shifts from the sin (supremacy/privilege) to the sinner (whites).
2. At the same time, “white” (in lefty circles) is morphing into an ideological category, which can be joined/abandoned. Whites can absolve themselves of their “whiteness” by adopting the "right" politics, POC can become avatars for “whiteness” by adopting disagreeable politics.
