Battleground members couldn’t possibly benefit from an investigation that's making Trump more unpopular. What they really need is to pass a trade deal Trump negotiated while extracting zero concessions so he can go lie to midwest voters about how he fixed their NAFTA problems.

There might be literally zero voters who'd punish Dems for impeaching Trump but will forgive them if they simultaneously do a bipartisanship.
But there IS a potentially decisive set of voters who'll think “Trump ain’t great but he fixed NAFTA while Dems tried to impeach him.”

Meanwhile, impeachment has made Trump more unpopular, has Republicans on the defensive, there is no USMCA, and Republicans just lost governors races in Louisiana and Kentucky, and Dems won a trifecta in Virginia.
