Billionaires can live where they like (they can buy their way out of free movement restrictions). So if the country is unliveable for them, they should go. But it takes quite some ego to threaten the electorate in advance: "if you vote for X I will leave."

Slightly underwhelmed by Labour, which gave not a monkey's about electoral misconduct during the Referendum, working itself into a lather about electoral misconduct during a General Election.
Plenty of us were pointing out that, although it might have been grimly expedient for Labour's leadership to ignore Vote Leave's misconduct then, failing to attach political cost to it wouldn't work out well for Labour in the long run.
This is the thing about bad governance. You might like it at the time. But it will bite you later. I made exactly the same argument to @LeaveMnsLeave types outside the Supreme Court: you might like Johnson suspending Parliament but how would you feel about Corbyn doing it?

I know lots of Londoners have adopted @Kapten as the ethical, tax-paying alternative to @Uber. But it isn't. THREAD.
Here's @Kapten's advertising and how it has been reported in the press. The actual truth is that, with one probably immaterial difference, it uses the same wheeze as @Uber. /1
The terms and conditions of @Kapten make clear that it only supplies - and for free - a Booking Service and use of the App. The Transportation Services are - or at least are said to be - provided by the Driver.

Three months later than usual @ONS have published UK National Accounts for 2018.

This series of tweets will draw attention to the financial mess #Brexit is creating for the United Kingdom.

We hear about UK national debt a lot, but not much on trade and UK balance of payments.
In their quarterly reports @ons have been warning us that UK trade deficit with EU was actually improving while trade with non-EU Rest of the World (ROW) was heading the opposite direction, despite #Brexiteers telling us that this is where our future lies!
@ONS So let's see what bad news #Brexit uncertainty has brought to our National Accounts for the last year 2018 just out:

"The UK trade deficit widened to 1.8% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2018, from 1.2% in 2017, its highest since 2010"

There is a rant coming up on high tax rates and those trying to justify it on the grounds of the rich should pay their fair share of taxes.
First and foremost, not just the rich everyone should pay their fair share of taxes.
The logic of rich should pay their fair share of taxes was the one sold by Indira Gandhi and her finance ministers to drive the marginal rate of tax to 97.75%, in the early 70s. Yes, you read that right 97.75%.

1) You have a mortgage, several credit cards & a pay day loan so you go to the bank to restructure your finances

You can't get to an agreement & you can't afford the payments so you stop paying

But you still have the debt & now a busted credit score

This is no deal & the £39b
2) there's this idea that we save £39b if we #Brexit with no deal.
The obligation still exists, we've already agreed this. We're not "buying a deal" we're meeting commitments.
If we crash out & don't pay we're just sending a message, the UK is untrustworthy as well as incompetent
3) if you're the kind of person who thinks it's OK for the UK to walk away from a debt its already agreed to then you're probably the kind of person who doesn't pay his fair share of a meal, or gets his round in, or returns that borrowed drill
