Maria Estela Esparza Magallanes of California was arrested & charged with illegally importing skin creams that contained high levels of Mercury.
She then sold those creams through Facebook claiming the cream could lighten skin, remove age spots, and treat acne.

She smuggled the cream into the US from Mexico and then marketed them in US under the names "Crema Esparza and Crema Jimena."

IT does mention victims, but does not mention if the victims became ill after using the cream. My guess is they probably did since an undercover agent was used to catch her.
