If and when coursework can't be graded blind, another faculty member will be tasked with overseeing his grading to protect against bias.
IU's position, of course, is that since his bigoted commments were made in non-academic, non-university settings, they don't constitute academic misconduct, and thus aren't cause for firing. But this is an extraordinary step to take as an alternative.
If I've ever heard of a professor being stripped of the power to grade as he pleases for reasons like this, I don't remember it—and I kind of feel like I'd remember it.
(Since two people have now brought it up, yes, I think the statement is using the term "double blind" incorrectly. It is possible that I'm missing something, though.)
