Adventures in Mom texting, Thanksgiving edition.

Even before Mom got a cold, she'd passed most of Thanksgiving to me. My sister has stuffing and rolls; Mom made the turkey stock; I'm making everything else. Totally my responsibility. Like I'm a grownup or something.

In theory.
So I was going to bring my mother soup today, because she's got a cold, and I have a bunch in my freezer. (Long story). Called her to confirm and she inquired about the state of the turkey. When she learned that I had not yet started dry brining ... welp.
I am 46 years, and my mother forbid me--FORBID ME--to leave the house until I had dry brined my bird. Not even to bring her nourishing, restorative soup.
Then the texts.

"Annie wants to know if you leave it uncovered after applying the brine. Glad you’re taking good care of our boy"

Annie is my aunt. I am suspicious that she actually asked after our turkey.
SUSPICIONS CONFIRMED WITH SECOND TEXT:

I checked 4 online recipes and all leave unwrapped like TK chicken. If you want crispy skin unwrap that bird!
When will my mother trust me to cook Thanksgiving dinner?

When I am dead and we are both in heaven, where recipes don't fail.
I'm really worried that I am going to be totally grounded for a month by the time I start the pies.
