Net migration is the difference between the number of people arriving to live in the UK for over a year and the number of people leaving to live elsewhere for over a year.

If the net migration is above zero then migration has added to the UK population
Since 2016, there has been a fall in immigration for work. Over the same period, immigration for study has been gradually increasing ow.ly/Ysbc30pXcMS
