The BBC Neil/Johnson debacle really shows why, like the Americans, we need to make TV debates/election events independent. No parties playing games, no broadcasters competing with each other, just an independent commission which sets this stuff up in advance. Fair and transparent
Sky has been calling for it all year. Big set piece political TV events have become part of the rhythm of general election campaigns for the past decade. But at the moment we are in a half way house positions with politicians having too much power/playing games. Let’s end it.
In the meantime, I’m sure @afneil could make Sunday around 9am. Hell, make it an hour long for his trouble.

-minimal interviews/tv debates during Tory leadership campaign
-avoided PMQs
-avoided liaison committee repeatedly
-minimal big interviews during this campaign
But we have him putting cream on a scone so 🤷🏻‍♂️
