1. I still think the more interesting fall weather story is soybeans not corn. Good grief its Dec 1. What is the expected harvest loss on this last 137 million bushels of soybeans?
2. As of Nov 17, 9% of soybeans were unharvested, or 6.9 million acres. That's about 325 million bushels of production at 47 bpa. Every agronomist I have talked to says that soybeans start popping after freezing and thawing. Maybe a minimum of 5% yield hit.
3. One big question outstanding on soybeans is how much of this was baked into the Nov 1 USDA yield estimate. Maybe some but I am skeptical that they anticipated all of it.
4. So I will not be surprised at all if the final January USDA US avg soybean yield estimate for soybeans drops a bushel or more. Just putting it out there and keeping it real!
