Dear clever twitter, I want to collate my understanding of the countries where trans kids already have full right to get all legal identity documents updated (birth cert, ID, passport. And countries where this is being debated. Grateful if people could post info and links 1/
Spain - all documents can be updated once a child has maturity, expected at about 12-14 chrysallis.org.es/tramites-en-re…
Mexico - legal rights for trans children was recently granted, but hit challenges, will link to details here later
Norway - trans children have full rights to update ID, including young trans kids
Chile, trans teens aged 14+ have right to update all legal ID.

+Btw in this thread I'm focusing on binary trans kids, as barriers for non binary trans kids are even higher)
Rights activists in Chile stood up for trans kids rights under #UNCRC
Scotland - The children's ombudsman advocated for trans children's rights, and 69 percent of public in Scottish consultation were in favour of a route to gender recognition for under 18s
Ireland - rights for trans kids are being consulted upon. Hope Ireland can make progress here, as plenty of countries already have

Australia - most trans kids in Australia can change their birth certificate without age restictions. This summer the fifth state in Australia updated their rules to ensure trans children have equality and dignity.
Canada - some states respect trans kids rights. Anyone have a simple summary of which states do and which don't respect trans kids' rights?
US - some states respect trans kids rights to update birth certificate. Anyone have a simple summary of which states do and which don't?
Malta - trans kids can update all their ID, no age restrictions
I want to check on Denmark, Sweden, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, anyone got any info? Also any better links for any of the above. Any other countries? I want to collate all the up to date info on which countries respect trans kids right to update birth certificate. Thanks!
Update on Ireland, trans 16 and 17 year olds to be able to update their birth certificates pinknews.co.uk/2019/12/03/ire…
Argentina - trans kids are included, with a 6 year old trans kid able to update birth certificate
New Zealand - trans kids are included
Portugal - 16 and 17 year olds can have their right to their identity respected
Denmark - currently debating how to proceed for under 18s -advocates are asking for children of all ages to be included
Iceland - trans children are included
Switzerland - trans kids apparently can update their birth certificate
