Even during the cold war, Corbyn wanted Britain out of NATO. [Daily Express 8 June 1987, p. 5]

Unsurprising if you consider his views on the Soviet Union, NATO and the cold war.

Corbyn: 'British foreign policy has been a furious hatred, promulgated by the Government through the media, of the Soviet Union & of everything the Soviet Union does. [Hansard HC Deb 18 Jun 1986] 2

Corbyn: 'we are constantly fed a diet of pro-American propaganda from the Govt, through the newspapers & a diet of anti-Soviet propaganda.'

Did he want more Soviet propaganda? 3

Corbyn: 'we should think back 5 or 10 years & remember he efforts made by President Gorbachev [yes] & previous Soviet leaderships [no] to pursue policies of peace and disarmament'.

Blessed are the Soviet leaders. 4

Corbyn: 'It is sad that the Minister and many Conservative Members seem to pretending that the Soviet Union is our enemy. I do not believe that it has ever intended to invade western Europe.'

Corbyn thinks we were the aggressors & not the communist overlords of Eastern Europe. 6

According to Corbyn the cold war didn't even happen. 7

Corbyn laments the failure of the Soviet Union. 8

'I am not defending everything about the previous [Soviet] system... in any case, I do not believe that the former Soviet Union presented a threat, any more than I believe that the remains of the Soviet Union, or Russia, present an external threat now.' [HC Deb 21 June 1993] 9

Finally, say what you like about the Soviet Union: the 30 millions dead, the gulags, the oppression, the terror.
