This is one of the most appalling examples of police overreaction I've ever seen ... cops firing at a truck with a hostage inside, on a busy highway, hiding behind civilian vehicles, displaying no coordination in their actions ... both the hostage and a bystander are dead
In this video (which is graphic do you may not want to watch) the UPS driver is crawling out of the vehicle and the police continue to fire ... and kill him reddit.com/r/videos/comme…
And as @BFriedmanDC points out here there are at least five examples of police using occupied vehicles as shields as they fire on the UPS truck
What they should have been doing is NOT firing. Instead they should have been helping the people in these vehicles to escape the gunfire
You have a situation here in which there is a hostage in the UPS truck and yet police fire upon it with seemingly no concern as to whether they shoot him
Every one of these cops who fired their weapon should be kicked off the force and then prosecuted.
I am very sympathetic to the pressure that police officers are under in a society as heavily armed as ours. We ask a lot of them when we allow ordinary Americans to have easy access to guns.

But this is just atrocious policing.
They should be focused on defusing the situation; getting the innocent out of harm’s way, protecting the hostage and not acting like cowboys
And the head of the Miami police union defends the actions of the officers who killed two innocent people with “the bad guys started it.” miamiherald.com/news/local/com…
