With 642 of 650 results declared, and if we view Labour as practically all of the electorate seems to have viewed it, the Leave/Remain share of the vote is as follows:

Leave 46.4%

Remain 51.4%

Outcome? Whopping majority for Hard Brexit.
That is the reality of Britain's fake democracy. That is the reality of what progressive parties do to each other. Every single one of these parties, who've failed to do anything about it for decades (I'm looking at YOU New Labour and YOU Blair/Brown/Prescott) should be ashamed.
Those figures, incidentally, are based on:

Leave = CON + BRX + UKIP + DUP

Remain = LAB + LD + SNP + GRN + PC + SF + SDLP

And now for a rather bleak thread. Something that's back playing on my mind now, just as it was in 2016 - when I first concluded it. Read on... if you dare.
In 2016, the weekend before the referendum, I very nearly wrote an article which had been sitting in my head for months. Its thesis would have been:

"Whatever happens on Thursday, whether Leave win or Remain win, everything is screwed. Forever".
Why was I thinking that?

1. Because it was obvious Leave would do horrendous damage to the economy and to social attitudes

2. Because it was obvious Remain would make no tangible positive difference, and that the EU was unreformable

I'm seeing quite a few people making the argument that this defeat is all Labour Remainers' fault - because Labour soft Brexit in 2017 achieved what it did.

Sorry: it's nothing like that simple.
1. Oppositions don't win elections. Governments lose them. In 2017, Labour were up against a much weaker opponent, palpably uncomfortable in her own skin, whose campaign became a national laughing stock which even the media highlighted. Yet even then, the Tories still got 42%.
2. At the 2017 GE, Brexit wasn't even discussed. Everyone accepted we were leaving. It was a different world in that sense.

By contrast, 2019 was the Brexit election because Johnson forcefully made it so.

While UK spirals down & out of control, gripped by self-inflicted Brexit-fixated inward-looking dirty-selfish politics, Major Parties talk to themselves with NO results, so far. Yet, every passing day brings new reasons to put Brexit to a #PeoplesVote with the option to #Remain.

A say in whether the EU enlarges or not.
A say in if the EU federalises or remains a union of independent states.
A say in if there is an EU army.
Being the financial capital through which the majority of € is traded while still keeping the £.

The UK has taken the lead in efforts for EU enlargement. It pushed for the inclusion of Eastern European states. It pushed for Turkey to get its shit together so that it could join (which it made very slow progress with, and has largely been undone by Erdogan)
After #Brexit, the UK will have no influence on EU enlargement. In fact, as setting the EU as a rival, every country that joins the EU will a) strengthen the EU, and b) unravels any trade deals that the UK will have made with that country, isolating it further.
