Jo Swinson is the first serving Leader of the Liberal Democrats or the Liberal Party (or any GB-wide major party) to lose their seat since Archibald Sinclair in Caithness & Sutherland in 1945
The new Father of the House of Commons is Sir Peter Bottomley (Con, Worthing West), who was first elected in a June 1975 by-election; Harriet Harman (Lab, Camberwell & Peckham) remains the longest continuously-serving woman MP
Dame Margaret Beckett (Lab, Derby South) is now the only current MP first elected to the House of Commons before 1975
Barry Sheerman (Lab, Huddersfield) is now the only remaining MP in the House of Commons who was first elected at the 1979 general election
Theresa May (Con, Maidenhead) is the first former Prime Minister returned to the House of Commons since Sir Edward Heath in 1997
Three of the House of Commons’ married couples were returned, but one was not when Jenny Chapman was defeated in Darlington
Orkney and Shetland remains the longest continuously-held Liberal Democrat/Liberal seat, since 1950
It looks like the youngest MP in the new House of Commons is 23 year old Nadia Whittome (Lab, Nottingham East) and the oldest is 79 year old Sir Bill Cash (Con, Stone) – this is the first Commons with no one who was born before WW2
The Conservatives' final tally of 365 is exactly the same number of seats that they won 60 years ago at the 1959 general election (albeit that resulted in a larger majority as it was in a House of 630)
The Conservatives final total vote of 13,966,451 is the second highest for a party at a general election, after the Conservatives' winning 14.093 million in 1992 and just ahead of Labour's (losing) total of 13.948 million in 1951
