Companies that fund the @NRA have wasted no time in fighting my newly issued legal opinion to classify 80% receiver #GhostGuns as what they really are: FIREARMS.

All I'm trying to do w/ @PAStatePolice is keep guns out of the hands of criminals & protect communities.
Let's break down this week's events:

1.) @PAStatePolice ask my Office to issue a legal opinion on 80% receiver #GhostGuns
2.) We issue the opinion -- they're firearms & require background checks
3.) The gun lobby sues, ignoring the rule of law and public safety
The gun lobby wants to strip PA'ns of their safety by fighting a rule that would make it harder for criminals to buy guns.

Their lawsuit against my new 80% receiver #GhostGuns opinion makes that pretty clear...

We've made history in passing landmark legislative reforms for victims of childhood sexual abuse, but there's more to be done.
Survivors’ justice is being delayed because of the legislature's decision to pass a civil window through Constitutional Amendment.
Those who contributed to the Grand Jury's Report into the Catholic Church's abuses / cover-up won't be able to take individual action, as it stands, until PA voters vote on this amendment on the ballot, which can’t happen until at least 2021.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

@PaSenate just eliminated criminal statute of limitations on childhood sexual assault‼️

W/ this gone, Bob Corby of Bethlehem, now 84, could have had his day in court.

He’d have been able to see the priest who abused him when he was a boy — brought to justice.
Tonight, the voices of Survivors were heard.

I stand proudly alongside these brave souls, who’ve waited 15 long months since the release of the Grand Jury’s Report on clergy abuse, to see the jurors’ 4 recommended reforms be brought to the PA Senate floor for a vote.
These reforms are more than just statutory changes…

They fundamentally change our justice system to better protect victims and hold abusers – and those who cover-up abuse – accountable under the law.

The @realDonaldTrump @HHSGov "Refusal of Care" rule puts people’s lives at risk, which is why we've taken them to court - to try and protect patients.

This hypothetical thread breaks down what's at stake:
The rule creates multiple barriers to care at nearly every step in the process.

Let’s imagine a patient - a woman w/ an ectopic pregnancy.

She goes to her doctor for an ultrasound & the ectopic (non-viable) pregnancy is confirmed. She'll die if the pregnancy isn't terminated.
At that point, let’s imagine her doctor is anti-abortion. Under the @HHSGov refusal of care rule, he can just walk away.

He’s under no obligation to provide her additional information on her condition or provide a referral to another doctor. He can just…

Lewis says the whole controversy ramped up with the blog post. He says at this point he directed staff to contact SLED. Says SLED never spoke with him, neither did the solicitor's office or anyone else.

Here's the backstory: during the shutdown, the Federal Register (which had no funding) asked Trump's DOJ what rules they could publish, given that some agencies were funded at the time. DOJ provided them with a legal opinion, which Bloomberg published. /2

DOJ says agencies can undertake unfunded activities where "a suspension of [the unfunded agency]'s functions during the period of anticipating funding lapse would prevent or significantly damage the execution of those funded functions." The standard applies to every agency. /3
