Washington Post re: US-UK published trade deal negotiating objectives contains language that would water down planned online crackdown holding tech giants responsible for harmful content, already exported from US via Nafta renegotiation - very interesting on new trade trade offs:
Eg when PM May announced online harms legislation earlier this year -“tough punishments” promised to tech companies that fail to remove and control harmful content... new Queens Speech language talked of “processes and systems rather than penalising”
Senior Tory MP Collins already warning Government not to accept section 230 provisions protecting tech platforms, in US-UK trade deal (some discussion around this in the leaked papers)...
Indeed must see interview with US Trade representative I told you about earlier...Lightizer refers to new USMCA deal as the “gold standard” on digital trade” and the “template” for future US deals - it includes that section 230 tech company protection...
