China's gaming sector is showing signs of robust recovery according to a new report from Gamma Data (CNG).

The report, published this week, includes data from CNG as well as Niko Partners.

I will outline some of the key points from the report in the thread below:
The total revenue of China's domestic and export games market was RMB 310 billion ($44.9 billion) in 2019, up 10.6% YoY.

Export game revenue was RMB 77 billion ($11.2 billion), up 16.7% YoY. Chinese games companies continue to expand overseas operations to reach more players
The total revenue of China's domestic games market was RMB 233 billion ($33.8 billion) in 2019, up 8.7% YoY.

This is higher than 2018's growth rate of 5.3% and marks a rebound for the domestic video games market. The increase was primarily driven by mobile games growth.
The total revenue of China's domestic mobile games market was RMB 151 billion in 2019, up 13% YoY.

Despite new regulations introduced in the year, demand from gamers was still strong among legacy titles. New titles such as Peacekeeper Elite drove growth.
The total revenue of China's domestic Client PC games market was RMB 62 billion in 2019, down 0.4% YoY.

Client PC games remained stable despite a lack of new releases. LoL continues to remain the most popular title.

WoW Classic was a key launch in 2019.
The total revenue of China's domestic Web/Browser PC games market was RMB 9.75 billion in 2019, down 22.9% YoY.

This segment continues to see time and spend shifted to mobile due to the rise of hypercasual mobile games as well as WeChat Mini Games.
The total revenue of China's domestic standalone / single player PC games market was RMB 640 million in 2019, up 341.4% YoY.

The sharp increase was primarily due to the continued release of games on PC game distribution platforms such as Steam and WeGame.
The total revenue of China's domestic console games market was RMB 5.36 billion in 2019, up 8.9% YoY.

Note. This includes revenue from software and hardware as well as legal and grey imports.

The PlayStation 4 is the current market leader. The Nintendo Switch launch in Dec.
The total revenue of games with an esports component in China grew to RMB 96.9 billion in 2019, up 16.2% YoY.

Mobile esports has become a driving force in China and revenue from mobile esports games specifically was up 33% YoY.
Whilst Niko Partners data is used and published in the report, CNG are the ones who have written and published it.
