NEW: We just received DOD records relating to the Trump administration's withholding of aid to Ukraine -- including an email from Secretary Esper asking about the funding. americanoversight.org/document/dod-s…
There are only five pages in this production—and they're heavily redacted—but like the State Department records we obtained in late November, these records were also not released to Congress during the House impeachment inquiry.
Despite the redactions, when placed against the publicly-known timeline of the Ukraine events, these emails show top DOD and OMB officials taking personal interest in the aid suspension issue at key moments.
More Ukraine documents are coming.

The State Dept. has court-ordered deadlines in early January in response to our other lawsuits.
- Jan 8: An additional 2.5 months of top officials comms with Giuliani or about Ukraine pressure campaign
- Jan 10: Kurt Volker calendars and texts

For a foreign policy initiative the White House claims was totally above board and legitimate, it is highly suspicious that top State Department officials have no records of communications with Rudy Giuliani during the critical months of August and September 2019.
Those are the months in which the rest of the administration was carrying out Trump's directive to freeze aid to Ukraine. Giuliani himself said he was in contact with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in mid-September - yet there is no record of that in these documents.

Late on a Friday night in November, the State Department released nearly 100 pages of documents to us in response to our lawsuit for Ukraine-related records — which showed a paper trail from Rudy Giuliani to the Oval Office to Sec. of State Pompeo: americanoversight.org/state-departme…
These records are also further evidence of the administration’s unprecedented obstruction of Congress. In its impeachment inquiry, the House requested that the administration turn over related documents, but the Trump White House directed agencies not to comply with the requests.
