Buttigieg defending big-dollar fundraisers by saying that Warren used to do the same thing would be like somebody saying they can oppose marriage equality because Obama used to oppose it.

It’s an effort to stop progress in time.
Warren announced publicly earlier this year she was changing her policy. It’s not a clever gotcha to point out that her policy was different before she changed it.
It’s also not a gotcha to point to Bernie Sanders’ Beverly Hills fundraiser in 2015, because the small-dollar revolution has been growing slowly and only recently is able to truly compete with big money.

(There’s a good book about this called We’ve Got People.)
The party now has two credible options before it:

1. Go all in on small donors and create a genuine contrast with the GOP.

2. Go half-ass on small donors and try to match the GOP billionaire for billionaire.

Which you choose today is what matters.
