Divorced : This story is a story about Edna. One of the many stories of Nigerian women who chose to be happy than die in marriage , people say the divorced woman has some blame to take, me I say most times she is just the victim!!!

Edna is pretty in every sense of the word, Edna was a young intelligent smart lady who just wanted to pursue her goals and lead a great life, she was hard working and life was fair to her, she never had a fail or an "E" in the university, and knowing that she went to UNN, where

they had some of the brightest mind in her department, you will understand Edna was not lazy,or lax in her dealings, it was only legal and fundamental that she came out top of her class!!! , in 2009 Edna graduated from the university and headed off to Porthacourt, Rivers State

for her NYSC, luckily for her she was posted to serve in One of the Big Oil company in Rivers State.
she was a graduate of Engineering!!!
When she told her friends, no body believed she didn't sleep with any one or bribe some one to get the placement, it all seemed like a

planed work, or a well planed arrangement, well it was a well planed arrangement by God all mighty.
Edna na had an excellent spirit so it wasn't long before they noticed her at the office, they gave her every kind of task, and she delivered, it wasn't long before they started

giving her bigger task, her HOD even sent her to meetings on his stead, well... jealousy started cropping up from some of the staffs, they started spreading rumors that Edna was sleeping with his HOD, even if the HOD never for once asked Edna for any of such things

yes such men still exist in the work place, but seeing how Beautiful Edna was, every one had to have an opinion about her, and trust Nigerians now, they would never attribute a woman's success to her hard work, they will always assume she got it via bottom power, well to

Edna heard the rumors flying around,but she has taking up a new mantra, "Opinion's are like ass holes, every body has one", Edna was not a "born again" in the Nigerian parlance , but she was raised well, and she had respect for her self and dignity for the other man, well

she also believed in "love" and after much toasting she decided to give Greg a chance Greg was from Akwa ibom schooled and raised, he was also a Corper in Rivers State, and he had noticed Edna at the Orientation Camp at Nowa bam Tai, Edna was always on her own at the camp

and she wasn't eating the camp food, she was a regular at the Mami market, where Greg was also visiting regularly for his favorite liquor, they met and spoke a little and exchanged contact, and never really had any special feeling until after they were both posted to Porthacourt

city and they met themselves at the CDS, Greg drove a Hyundai, and every lady wanted to be close to him, would you blame them, every body was looking for who to leach on, since the Federal government alawi was nothing to write home about, well... Greg was posted to an

all girls secondary school, then he was assigned to teach intro Tec, he met Edna in one of those CDS meetings and got to know Edna was posted to an Oil company , he didn't do much toasting Edna always liked guys who were focused and know what they want, and Greg

scored 9 out of 10 on the bucket list, yes!!! I said bucket list, even if ladies never agree they have one, well...It didn't take long, Edna and Greg became a pair, so much so that every one took notice of them, if their was an award for most decent couples in the Road Safety

CDS in Porthacourt, in that year, Edna and Greg would have won it hands down 🤔, Edna would often spend her week ends in Greg's house, they would gist make plans for the future and make sweet love through out the week end... abi is that not what Corpers do?🙄🙄🙄

While this love in Tokyo was taking place, Edna and Greg totally forgot about the fact that for many, life doesn't start during NYSC, it actually starts after your POP, Two months to POP and Edna's boss calls her and asked her...

if she will like to continue working In the company as a Staff, he told her an opening just came up in the department, and if she was willing to work with them full time she should, go and apply and bring a copy of her application to him for follow up, Edna couldn't wait for

work to close for that day so he could tell his Boy friend the good news, at home they both cried tears of joy, this was every young person's dream, that the "good company" they served with will retain them after the National service year, Greg on the other hand had been

applying for jobs every day, dropping application's at many offices and no one called back, he was however still optimistic as a trained Engineer with a good grade that he will get a good job soon, Edna even submitted his CV at her office, to no avail , two months later

NYSC came to an end, and Greg had still not gotten a call back, talk less of interview, Edna on the other other hand was sent to Scotland for a six month training once her job application was complete and she was confirmed as a staff, she was moved into the staff quarters and

everything was going generally well for her, Greg moved into the Edna's apartment as his former rent had expired, and he was still job hunting, to make things worst, 3 months after Edna left for Scotland Something drastic Happened!!!

Greg lost his Dad, and as the first son, the burden for his burial was largely on him,with no job and no salary, and they couldn't gain access to his father's money, as his father's brothers kept the death certificate and without it they didn't have the legal backing to be the

executors of his estate, which will allow them gain access to the funds and maybe his properties, Greg had to sell his car, the car his dad bought for him during graduation, he ran back to Akwa ibom for a while to help in planing the burial, it was not the best of time for Greg

Edna couldn't do much from the abroad, she was not in the country so all she could do was show sympathy and concern, after the burial a court battle was instituted by Gregs Uncle's , on who owns some of his fathers property so he couldn't go back to Porthacourt...

Like they say, "Life happens", the case lasted for years.
Edna came back in June the Next year and was clogged with work, she didn't expect Greg to be without a job 6 months after NYSC and to be at Rock bottom, she also had her mum and siblings to take care of since her Dad...

died years ago , so she couldn't really do much for Greg, plus immediately she came back she had a new urge to be very active in one of the new pentecostal church's in town, that was worshipping in Presidential Hotel, they made her a head of the ushering department in a

short time of joining them, would you blame them, to see good financial standing members is not easy 😊😊😊😊, For Greg and Edna's love story, Out of sight slowly became out of mind, that was how her relationship with Greg died a natural death, plus who has time to date

a broke nigga???, without a car, well back to my gist.
It didn't take time for every brother in church to take notice of Edna, she drove a nice car, she was always smelling nice and was always making a fashion statement 🙄,she was getting advances from every man in church both

married and unmarried except the pastor, are you supprised? Well I still feel the church is the worst place to find a spouse these days , I liking the church to a hospital, where every one comes to be heald and to see the Doctor, while others are seriously taking their drugs...

And responding to treatment, some people are not evening taking their drugs, talk less of responding to treatment..., Edna didn't know who to chose , you see in this life, even your blessing can be a disadvantage to you , but she wasn’t getting any younger sha, so after two years

of worshiping in "The church" Edna decided to settle with Brother Napoleon aka, Bro Napo, Napo was a smooth man he was soft spoken, He dresses well and was reserved, he also drove one of those corolla that deserves a Nigerian passport for being so fuel efficient and road friendly

Well... one thing lead to another and Edna and Napo became a pair after two dates, Edna was like an FBI when it came to questioning, she wanted to know it all, where you schooled, where you work, how you were raised, how much you love God and all,

Napo on the other hand was an answering machine, he had an answer for every question Edna asked, not just an answer, but a perfect A1 answer, Edna couldn't thank God enough so after six months of dating, Napo proposed and she accepted, one thing always troubled Edna though...

Napo had no friends, Edna kept asking to meet Napo's friends until she got tired and gave up, and Napo really had no friends, Even if this seemed like a dream guy, who had all the time in the world to give to Edna, it fleet too good to be true, Napo didn't also drink or smoke

Pitch in, Like I said she was in Love, Edna covered most of cost of the white wedding and yes, she had the funds for it, she told Napo not to worry, and the pastor encouraged her, that this was a ploy by the devil, to spoil the good coming her way, nothing good comes easy right?

Well... Edna was married to the man of her dreams, he went to his village and saw his family house, his parents were dead, but the family house was still fine, under lock and key, Edna was responsible for picking up the bills for every thing in the house, she didn't complain much

It never occurred to her at that time to ask the husband for his CV though, but it didn't worry her, they met in church, so he was a saint no doubt, plus pastor blessed the marriage right, well after a year they had a daughter and the burden was too much for Edna,once she resumed

She started asking her colleagues for job openings for her husband, and some of the told her to tell him to send his CV, he will take the email and say he has sent it, three years into the marriage Napo still had no job, Edna was running the home, working and still cooking

And fulfilling her conjugal duties.
It was in June 2013 Edna's life was going to take a drastic turn, old friend who left her company for a sister oil company said a job opening just surfaced, that Edna should bring his husband's CV and cover later personally so he can help him

Edna left her office ran home, the husband was home as usual watching TV and enjoying him self, Edna was so Angry with what she saw, she told him to go get his CV and a cover letter hard copy so he can take it to her friend for a job, well the husband was aggressive at first, he

Said the wife should take the person's email and send to him so he can send it, the wife refused and asked that she needs the CV immediately, after much shouting, the wife broke down in tears and the husband in his usual soft tone told her he news that's broke her !!!

Edna's husband opened up and told Edna How he had only a secondary school cert, he lied about the accounting degree, that he knew Edna would never look at him, if he said he was just an SSCE holder, furthermore he said that he was a P. A at the former company where he

worked, but some how he was black mailed and he was fired, shortly after he met Edna, he also told Edna how he had not been applying for all the jobs she has been sending him to apply for, Edna cried bitterly, she was in a state of quagmire, to make matters worst the former

colleague kept on calling, because they were about to make a news paper advert for the job, and he really wanted Edna's husband to apply before the advert goes public, so he can secure the job for him.
Napo cried and begged for forgiveness, Edna was still in shock😭, well she

forgave him, but things never remained disame again, shortly after he made this expose` to her, he started showing his true self, he started bringing alcoholic wines to the house, he started sleeping out, so all those things he was doing was for show, Edna thought to her self

Edna became a shadow of her old self, every one could tell something had gone wrong, but both her and her husband kept mute, this is usually the case for most couples, as they always feel there is no way out, they feel there life has come to end, well let me tell you

that it is not...Mr Napo at a point couldn't take the silence in the house any more, he left the house, which by the way was one of Edna's family house which she inherited from her father, Napo moved to Calabar and for 2 years Edna didn't hear anything from him

he didn't even call to ask of his daughter, Edna contracted the service of a lawyer to file for a divorce, after she opened up to a close friend, they had to serve the husband a copy of the petition before the case to commences, so she started tracing the husband, she discovered

the husband had remarried another lady in calabar, that he even had a child, a daughter again!!!, he did all this without divorcing Edna!!! , the worst part was during the pendency of the case Edna was laid of from work, as the company embarked on massive

retrenchment, and Edna had not been putting on her A game at work, would you blame her???
In any ways, She got her divorce, but refuse to pursue a criminal action against the Ex-husband, she is now a single mother of one..
they life happens to us all, I say let us all happen

to life, chose wisely, with both eyes open, ask question, talk to friends, every one has one, except they are hiding something.
