Texas law protecting armed churchgoers debated after congregant kills gunman at Sunday service washingtonpost.com/national/texas… If we could refrain, even for a moment, from viewing this in polarized, binary terms--
we'd immediately think that this story supports *both* narratives. There should be fewer guns in the hands of bad guys, and more in the hands of good guys. The policy focus should be ensuring this.
It's obviously *very* relevant that the good guys, here, were highly trained and qualified. No rational person would oppose their ownership of a firearm.

But any rational person would oppose the assailant's.
If you're incapable of saying, "How good it was that the men who defended the church were there, trained, and armed," you've allowed your mind to atrophy from partisanship. If you're incapable of saying, "How tragic it was that the murderer was armed," likewise.
