For those who asked for me to finish this story and the advice:

The thing about love is that it’s part of the puzzle but not the whole story.

Love isn’t going to save us or change us. It’s a part of the equation but just one part.

It’s like expecting a lover to save you.
Love doesn’t save the nation just like expecting a single human to make your whole life better is a ridiculous idea.

Peace is much the same— we find peace but it is just another part of the puzzle.
Our challenge right now as a nation and as a movement (and let’s be real, as humans) is to work all the pieces of the puzzle at once.

Do our work. Do every aspect of our activism. Work constantly to confront privilege and white supremacy and misogyny.
And also follow all that which calls us forward to make the world a better place, and chase every gift we came in with that leads in that direction.

It’s like a peony, she said. Every petal is necessary but none is more significant that another, and they all matter.
So love, work, peace, calling, activism, caring for ourselves and others, cultivating our voices and our gifts, taking every opportunity we can to make the world better and more livable for all of us.

And all of it, love included, in balance.

That was what I came to say.
And I suppose the events of the last 24 hours explain why all of it, every piece and every petal, and all of it in balance, is even more important.

Let’s go get it.
(And forgive the deviation from the horror show of ongoing political analysis, but sometimes we need it. Much love, peeps. XX)
