• Trump asks Iraqi PM to be the mediator between U.S & Iran.
• Iraqi PM already mediating between Saudi & Iran.

• Iraqi PM was meeting Soleimani morning of assassination, as Iran was responding to a Saudi message - Soleimani was the messenger.

What isn’t clear is if Trump knew Soleilmani was:

a) the messenger for Saudi/Iran mediations?
b) if Iraqi PM had disclosed Soleimani’s travel agenda?
b) if Trump knew Soleilami would be the messenger for Iran vs U.S negotiations?
4. If Trump knew Soleimani would be the messenger & the fact Trump asked Iraqi PM to mediate between Iran and U.S, then Soleimani gets taken-out by U.S? It would appear Soleimani got lured into the kill zone for U.S - as U.S operate drones with impunity over Iraq (per PM).

3. #Iraq| I was deployed to Baghdad International Airbase in 2006/7, and the CRAM Close in Weapons System would fire everyday at incoming mortars and rockets. As you can hear from this footage taken in Iraq in 2009, it’s a menacing sound. WATCH👇🏼

1. With tours in Baghdad, Basra, Kabul, Kandahar, Helmand, and multiple deployments to Pristina, may I offer a little insight, that many of those talking heads on U.S cable news do not have, and should not be offered the privilege of taking about.

2. ...were deployed here, did so at great personal risk. But U.S troops arrived in N.Syria and cracked on w/ a task that, at the core, had the building of strong and therefore personal relationships w/ members of the SDF, who were critical to the U.S SF Operational Plan (OpPlan).
3. The OpPlan’s success would have been measured w/ the SDF by achieving objectives outlined in the OpPlan, ultimately leading towards the OpPlan’s Endstate. I would argue the SDF would have been the Centre of Gravity to the U.S SF OpPlan. As an operator, the success you achieve

1. W/ reports that SDF are now aligning w/ the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), you can also expect IRGC and Hez to be among the SAA force structure confronting Turkish forces. SAA, IRGC, Hez & SDF is a battle hardened alliance that Turkey will capitulate against.
2. This, along w/ Russian backing, you can expect the Russian S400 anti-aircraft/cruise missiles to be deployed (it’s mobile) in an attempt to create air superiority over N.Syria for Russian/SAA jets. Qu is, will Russian/SAA jets go after Turkish forces in Turkish territory?
3. The big question on my previous tweet; is will Turkey try to invoke NATO article 5 if Russian or SAA jets target Turkish forces inside Syria, or in Turkish territory. An opportunity for Russia to press to test and create division between NATO and Erdogan.

That will drag a wider confrontation

#Iran #QassemSoleimani commander was due to visit #Turkey President Erdogan and had a visit scheduled to #Lebanon.

His trips were known for many. The assassination will not at all affect Iran military and operationally because no one is indispensable.

Right, so, here's the bottom line: The US has worked itself into a position whose likely outcomes are (a) war (b) internal regime change or (c) lasting damage to U.S. global leadership. I think we're heading for the latter. But first, I want to back up and review how we got here
For about 30 years, the U.S. & Iran maintained a cold, uncomfortable peace, generally content to hurl no more than invective at each other. Even in #Iraq, where #IRGC-backed militias attacked US forces, the two found their strategic interests aligned more often than not.
