1. Thread #Iraq| Footage emerging (not verified) of the U.S Phalanx land-based Close in Weapon System (CIWS) called CRAM (counter-rocket, artillery and mortar systems) being triggered at Iranian incoming missiles.
2. Via @BabakTaghvaee, the 2 Iranian missiles used to attack Erbil and Al-Assad airbase were the ‘Fateh-313 (long range variant of Fateh-110) and Qiam-1’. U.S CRAM Close in Weapon System based at Erbil shot down 1 Iranian Qiam-1. ##Iraq
3. #Iraq| I was deployed to Baghdad International Airbase in 2006/7, and the CRAM Close in Weapons System would fire everyday at incoming mortars and rockets. As you can hear from this footage taken in Iraq in 2009, it’s a menacing sound. WATCH👇🏼

CRITICAL| Excellent work by @BabakTaghvaee on Ukraine Int Airlines FLT #PS752 crash. The evidence of a shootdown is very compelling given the impact point & proximity/debris of the Tor-M1 SAM site (NATO code name SA-15 Gauntlet). The FDR/CVR need to be reviewed ASAP for proof.
2. Tor-1M SAM site (SA-15) sits just to the North of the extended centreline of Tehran’s North Westerly runway. Which means that civilian ac will pass within close proximity on a very regular basis. Crucial question: what would trigger the launch of a radar guided missile now? Image
3. There was clearly Iranian ballistic missile (BM) activity that night directed towards Iraq. And Iran’s Air Defense Systems will have been on high alert for U.S offensive air activity.

My big Qu: what deconfliction procedures were in place btw Irananian SAMs & Civ Air traffic?

1. With tours in Baghdad, Basra, Kabul, Kandahar, Helmand, and multiple deployments to Pristina, may I offer a little insight, that many of those talking heads on U.S cable news do not have, and should not be offered the privilege of taking about.

2. ...were deployed here, did so at great personal risk. But U.S troops arrived in N.Syria and cracked on w/ a task that, at the core, had the building of strong and therefore personal relationships w/ members of the SDF, who were critical to the U.S SF Operational Plan (OpPlan).
3. The OpPlan’s success would have been measured w/ the SDF by achieving objectives outlined in the OpPlan, ultimately leading towards the OpPlan’s Endstate. I would argue the SDF would have been the Centre of Gravity to the U.S SF OpPlan. As an operator, the success you achieve

1) Since Al Asad is trending due to Iranian missile attacks, lets have a short thread on missile defense. The well known system from Desert Storm is the MIM-104 Patriot missile, which comes in four and sixteen packs.

2) Navy ships carry a 20mm Close In Weapons System (CIWS) called the Phalanx. These have been modified to do C-RAM - Counter Rockets Artillery & Mortars.

3) Navy ships are subject to sea skimming cruise missile attacks, for which the RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile is employed as a defense. I do not think there is a land based variant of this.

3/I analysed about 16,700 tweets, replies, retweets from the hashtag I mentioned in Tweet 1. These tweets were produced by around 6,500 unique accounts. Most of the tweets were quite crude, and looked like what you see below, full of hashtags, some describing a 'revolution'>
