1. Cosmetics 💄

Not only will you want to avoid products that have been tested on animals, but you will also want items that don't contain byproducts.
I have found @EthicalElephant to be a wonderful resource. Although its a US site, the brands are global. #beauty #Vegan #Veganuary

In the UK, @superdrug's own brand range is all vegan, and the @TheBodyShopUK (no longer affiliated with L'Oreal) now label their vegan products. For minimal packaging, brands such as @LushLtd are a great go-to.

2. Household products🧽

Much the same as with cosmetics, you will want to look for vegan & cruelty free. Ideally (if affordable) as natural as possible too.

3. Clothing👚

Whilst you may decide to hold onto your old leather boots, moving forward, leather, silk, wool, feathers & fur etc are out!

Most clothing will be vegan, but if you wish to support some #vegan brands that are also #sustainable click below.

Many mainstream brands also have vegan and/or sustainable ranges, for example @SupergaUK, @drmartens, @hm, @marksandspencer for example.

Thread: Keep hearing people say, there's nothing we can do' re Climate change, etc. It's time to first take responsibility and then make changes.
It's all of our fault the world is in this state. We fly, we eat in an unsustainable way. We allow pesticides to be poured onto land.
We listen to a child, growing into a woman, say oh yes yes, isn't she amazing and then we carry on, making no changes, driving, flying, eating fruit out of season.
We aren't helpless. Our governments will do nothing. We first have to lead, then our leaders will follow.
It's not about making laws to change behaviour, it's about accepting responsibility and making changes. You can make ethical choices, in banking, in food purchases, in travel choices.

In 2014, our #LetBooksBeBooks campaign with @LetterboxLib led to 11 publishers including Usborne & Random House pledging to drop boy/girl labels from their children’s books - hugely important because no child should feel excluded from something they are naturally drawn to 2/
The signs & labels may be history but we continue to document/challenge every day all the ways that brands, manufacturers, publishers & retailers continue to signal to boys & girls (through languages, images, motifs & colour) that certain products are not really meant for them 3/

1/Got a bunch of #wagegap deniers in my mentions so here’s a thread about reductive thinking about women’s “choices”:
2/The wage gap results from complex dynamics that create the parameters of women’s decisions about work. Men and women *do* make different choices, ie, fields of study, types of work, “lifestyle” decisions but rarely women-make-choicers actually delve into *why* they make them.
3/ Women’s choices are made in the context of dominant gender socialization, entrenched educational biases, a lack of social support for women’s wage earning, and the mandate that women provide unpaid care and domestic labor.

I increasingly believe we need a kamikaze government to denationalise the NHS & depoliticise healthcare once & for all to save our politics
It is ridiculous that the 5th largest employer *in the world* is not a UK private company but a govt nationalised healthcare bureaucracy
It is also ridiculous that the emotional sway of the NHS turns us into frightened, defensive cultists rather than thinking citizens
