In backdrop of deteriorating security scenario in Gulf region, post attacks on merchant ships in Gulf of Oman June 2019, @indiannavy commenced Maritime Security Operation, #OpSANKALP, in the Gulf on 19 June 2019 ensuring safe passage of Indian Vessels transiting Strait of Hormuz
Warships and aircraft of the @indiannavy were deployed to establish presence, provide a sense of reassurance to the Indian mercantile marine, monitor the ongoing situation and respond to any emergent crises. One Indian Naval Ship is presently deployed for #OPSANKALP
Currently, #OpSankalp is being progressed by @indiannavy in close coordination with all stakeholders including @SpokespersonMoD, @MEAIndia @shipmin_india, @PetroleumMin and DG, Shipping. Regular meetings have been held to review evolving Maritime Security Situation in the Gulf.
The @indiannavy continues to monitor the situation in the Gulf, and is maintaining presence in the region to ensure security of India's sea borne trade and safety of Indian Flag Merchant Vessels transiting the region.
