Indiana Jones to the rescue?

Twiggy's $50M commitment to bushfire resilience is a part partnership with Conservation International.....possibly upscaled to $500m with donations from elsewhere.

CI has as its Vice Chair, Harrison Ford
However, it might not all be beer and skittles, or Indy riding into town.

Conservation International is not without its critics for its past behaviour and work with Chevron, Monsanto and Shell. Mind you that was 8 years ago.

One thing CI appears to do is provide corporates a green offsetting mechanism where the companies donate $ or create endowments in return for CI protecting/conserving the environment elsewhere.

BHP have an alliance with CI as well:

CI claim they have been able to protect 50M hectares globally thus far. Their latest glossy annual report can be found here:

As far as I can tell Conservation International currently DO NOT undertake any projects in Australia.

So the Twiggy/CI partnership could end up being the first.
I must say I don't know what to make of this partnership between Mindaroo and CI.

My preference would still be for national climate disaster fund (fossil fuel levy) as per the @TheAusInstitute

COALS to INDIA?

In May 2019, Morrison won an unlikely election victory, significantly propelled to office by the campaign trickery of Crosby Textor (CT).

CT not only operate as dark arts masters for the LNP and UK Tories, they also run traditional lobbying services.
This includes cutting backroom deals etc and have tentacles in many other countries…..including very recently in India.

I only highlight this because of Morrison’s trip to India this month. Morrison’s staff is full coal loving and former CT staff

As always it is interesting timing that CT set up shop in India, in July 2019 - a short 2 months after that unlikely Morrison victory.

CT India only has 2 directors and 2 shareholders: Lynton Crosby and former teleco CEO and consultant, Atul Jhamb.

Seems an appropriate day to remind folks about the dirty tricks of Tim Wilson and Geoff Wilson of Wilson Asset Management (WAM) re: franking credits.

They colluded to set up the stoptheretirementtax website.

Tim, at the time was chair of Standing C'ttee on Economics.
Tim and Geoff are distantly related, and Tim has investments with WAM.

Tim hopped into bed with a firm he had investments in to create a website that opposed Labor's policy. WAM also opposed Labor's policy.

The website was created on 31 October 2018.
Vested interests coalesce. Subterfuge reigns.

Geoff Wilson met with then treasurer Josh Frydenberg on 29 October 2018 - 2 days before the website went live.

Frydenberg had previously appointed Tim to be Chair of the C'tee

Alright, gang, so it's Friday night, and this is a #thread about the Choshu War of 1866, #Kokura Castle, one very brave woman, and the things we don't and possibly can't know, when we study #militaryhistory or any history.
Alright, so Kokura is in southern Japan, on the island of Kyushu. Interestingly, it was the primary target for the 2nd atom bombing, and cloud cover wound up saving it, but I digress.

Let's go back to 1866.
So, the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Choshu Domain have been having this long, on again off again fight in western Japan. Because of stuff I won't get into, here, the Shogunate wasn't as aggressive as it could've been, even with a modern army, and let the Choshu leaders live in '65

Could record two general battles and 26 duels on Day One. Only 6 of those duels ended decisively. Pandava side suffered horribly in the hands of Bhishma. Uttara killed in the hands of Shalya. Saving grace being Abhimanyu countering Bhishma and winning over Brihadbala #Kurukshetra
