Are you pissed off that GOP judges in Florida just gutted Amendment 4 and will now require all rehabilitated convicts to pay fines and fees to vote?

Save some room to be angrier. There are TWENTY-NINE OTHER STATES that already do this. allianceforajustsociety.org/wp-content/upl…
8 states other than FL — AL, AR, AZ, CT, DE, GA, IA, and TN — have a requirement to pay all legal financial obligations to vote.

21 other states don't explicitly require it, but do require you to complete probation to vote, and in turn require paying LFOs to complete probation.
In recent years we've made a lot of genuine progress towards undoing felony disenfranchisement. Even in Florida! This gutted version of Amendment 4 is still better than the system before it.

But we have a long, long way to go.

Not everywhere will get warmer as climate change continues.

In particular, if melting Arctic ice dilutes the North Atlantic enough to shut down the Gulf Stream, it will cause dramatic cooling in Europe. Britain and Ireland would turn into something more like Northern Canada.
Oh and here's some extra fun! Since all that heat the Gulf Stream was carrying to Western Europe is now stuck where it is, northern Mexico and the southeastern United States would get a lot hotter. And they aren't exactly cool places as it is right now.
Bottom line, London would develop a climate like Moscow, and Miami and Houston would develop a climate like Delhi.

In today's, "this is seriously a thing Republicans are doing," West Virginia lawmakers have introduced a bill to annex several rural counties of Virginia so they don't have to follow Virginia's new gun laws.
Holy shit it gets better. The lawmakers are seriously comparing this proposal to the Velvet Divorce, and the partition of Sudan.
Perhaps the weirdest part of the bill is that it espouses a kind of reverse Lost Cause.

The lawmakers devote multiple paragraphs to why West Virginia originally split from Virginia, and nowhere do they bother to mention "it was because Virginia was fighting to preserve slavery."

Folks: Few states count provisional ballots, early ballots, or overseas ballots quickly; usually they do not have to do so because the numbers don't require it... there is a big enough margin for these not to have any effect. In #Florida and #Georgia you have several issues. 1/
@ScottforFlorida has been governor for two terms/8 years. During this time he has underfunded election security and election processes, did not replace Ms. Snipes who he now berates. Why? So he could underfund the election machinery in that county and then blame her for problems?
For @ScottforFlorida to complain now when he is responsible for underfunding election staff, machines, etc is laughable at best, but really a tragedy of democracy. The idea that the second largest county in Florida, underfunded for this purpose, should now pull out miracles,

The @CDCgov cites 133M as the number of chronically-ill Americans who have #cancer, like I do, or another illness that impedes their daily lives.

The majority of that 40% of the US population still have to work despite often disabling illness because we cannot afford not to.
