Will not go into abstract discussions, but the root of the problem is the inability to understand people exist in communities. You cannot fight terrorism by identifying the terrorists within their communities and going after them. It’s much more complicated
That logic, taken to the end, leads almost inevitably to civil war. Pakistan must actually be praised for not having accepted the logic in its entirety - or it might now be dealing with a civil war.
Let’s hope some lessons have been learned. As for Afghanistan, difficult to be optimistic. As the US withdraws, not hard to imagine that Pakistan and India will increasingly see it as a battlefield in their ongoing conflict. Already happening
