Deripaska's speech at WEF in Davos has been canceled. No reason was provided. On a side note Russian social media and media outlets are freaking out over his comments accusing the Central Bank of Russia being responsible for the loss of 2.5 million jobs.

Bulgarian prosecutors have charged 3 Russians for the attempted murder of 3 Bulgarian men who were poisoned. There also might be a link to the attempted murder of the Skripals

A little background on this story. 8 suspected Russian intel officers traveled to Bulgaria. In 2015 the target of the poisoning was local arms dealer Gebrev who was on the Russian Ministry of Defense blacklist because he was exporting arms to Georgia during Russia's 2008 invasion
Last year a Russian news outlet Fontanka revealed that Sergei Fedotov traveled to Bulgaria 3 times in 2015 and was there during the attempted murder on Gebrev. Fedotov was also involved in the Skripal poisoning.

Deripaska was in Davos and praised Trump's speech while making critical comments about the Central Bank of Russia. The latest news is Deripaska is waiting for personal sanctions to be lifted this year. Who would have guessed that?

Some background. Deripaska sued the Treasury Dept last year and expects to have a favorable outcome. His only worry now is Trump being impeached.

THREAD on Turkish Military Equipment Problems:

1) Turkish media has been freaking out over Greece acquiring 24 F-35 fighter jets from the USA. The main reason is because besides being a purely offensive jet, it is also invisible to the Russian-made S-400 missile defense system.
2) The main reason Trump cancelled Turkey from the F-35 program is because the US fears that Turkey can practice the F-35 with the S-400 and give the intelligence to Russia so that it can overcome the problems it has in detecting this jet. This jet is a huge advantage for Greece.
3) European and US sanctions against Turkey will also target the supply of European and American weapons and defense systems to Turkey. Sanctions are for the attack on Kurdish YPG forces in northern Syria, and its acquisition of the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft systems.

The race-related ads were clearly targeted to inflame Democratic base and could have ostensibly increased* black voter turnout, which debunks the popular notion that Russia was using social media solely to help Trump and the Republicans.

*Black voter turnout slumped in 2016.
2. One theory that no one has mentioned is that 2016 meddling was a trial balloon for Putin: He tried various things, ran numerous simulations and experiments to see how they played out, to test whether there would be investigations, assess public reaction
3. Putin must have found it especially fascinating that social media posts to inflame racial tensions (remember how many BLM rallies we had in 2015 and 2016 after police shootings) actually suppressed black voter turnout in major Democratic strongholds, a key reason Clinton lost.
