Today there is a global political effort to convey vast new powers to central banks in order to "fight" climate change.

This is not about climate change. This is about narrative. This is about power.

The totalitarian impulse of Trump and his know-nothing bully boys is identical to the totalitarian impulse of Lagarde and her Renfields.

The ends are different but the impulse is the same.

I reject them both.

AND I support policies of great sacrifice to combat climate change.

Gotta say ... the coordinated narrative control we’re seeing out of both the US and China is mighty impressive.
I think if we had a major outbreak of a deadly new disease in, say, Washington DC, and the suspected disease vector was, say, a feral cat population, and there were noted scientists at Fort Detrick working with feral cats ... it’s not crazy to have questions about that.

Today, I will try my hand at live tweeting insights from "A #Home of One's Own", a two-day #researchworkshop on socially & economically #marginalised women's experiences of and negotiations with #genderinequalities in #informalurbanhousing in India.
This workshop has been organised by #JadavpurUniversity (School of Women's Studies), #RabindraBharathiUniversity (Centre for Women's Studies) and #Parichiti, a women's organisation. All three are research partners on a #GCRF project funded by @GoldsmithsUoL.
Since Oct 2018, I have collaborated with Dr. Henrike Donner, who is leading it, to develop #researchcollaborations with #educational and #development organisations in India to implement a pilot study on #genderurbanhousing. This workshop marks the end of the first phase.

Good questions @RedsforNamesake. If confronting #climate change is your priority, it is imperative to ramp up carbon-free energy asap.

1. NJ will now ramp up renewable energy from 13% in 2017 and 20% by 2020 under old RPS to 35% by 2025 & 50% by 2030. Impressive leadership.
2. To ensure that this new clean energy replaces fossil fuels and contributes to #climate mitigation goals, NJ's new laws also make payments to ensure the continued operation of 3 South Jersey nuclear reactors that currently supply 31% of the state's electricity consumption.
2. Cont.: That measure is essential and ensures that nearly all of the new clean energy growth over the next 12 years builds on top of the fossil-free foundation provided by the state's existing nuclear plants.
